Adrianna had gotten up in the morning not feeling at all like herself. She knew why, it was from the letter that she had received the day before from her father. He had went on about how wonderful his new job was and he assured her he was doing fine. Those were all lies of course, she could read through the lines on the paper. Her father had to move because furies had attacked their home..again. They were followed, and each time she went home they seemed to follow her again. Her father was on his fourth job since Adrianna had been told of who she was. Things were also not well with him she knew he missed Alex as much as she did...probably more. What made things worse was that it was all her fault.
So it was really no wonder that she was in a bad mood. Adrianna walked to the full length mirror in her room and although her reflection in the mirror was stunning and as perfect as a porcelain doll she couldn't smile. Today was not going to be a smiling happy day which was very rare for her. Adrianna grabbed one of the nearest fashion magazines and decided to walk to a place that might give her some sort of happiness: the sword play arena.
Adrianna was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was actually decent with a sword. No, she would not last against a child from Ares or any of the other war dieties, but she handled herself better than most. Adrianna loved to show off her little skill to unsuspecting boys who thought she was just an air headed blond. She loved proving people wrong. Adrianna walked to the stadium seats and absentmindedly starting flipping through the fashion magazine. Maybe this day would get better....she couldn't help but hope.

Damien was still awake from the night before. He had watched the sunrise from behind the mountains and clouds that made up his backyard. Night had always been the teacher's favorite time of day and he made a point to stay up. Unfortunately, classes were during the day at Atheneta University which gave him no time to sleep. Damien walked to his kitchen and started to brew some coffee. This was his resolution to his sleepiness. The dark circles under his eyes made it clear that he did not get much sleep at all. Once the coffee was done, Damien poured it into his cup then left his room.
Luckily for Damien, he had no classes on that particular day. Though he enjoyed to teach the Demigods about bows and arrows and knives and tactics, he much rather preferred to act them out instead of just lecture about them. He made a point to take his students out at least twice a week to get some fighting in. It was quite frustrating to him when no one in his class was particularly good. They were all decent Demigods who just found out about their true identity. They were takin this class because they had to and not because they enjoyed the way a weapon felt in their hand or the way their fist made contact with human flesh.
Damien decided he would practice with his sword and started heading toward the arena. He hoped that maybe he would find someone decent there to fight with. At this point he did not care if they were a teacher or a student or even one of those "gifted" students. Damien rolled his eyes at the thought of them. Going down the steps, Damien saw a blond girl, probably a student sitting down looking through a magazine. This instantly annoyed Damien and being a person to express his annoyance he did. "I do not know if you're lost, but this is the sword play arena not your personal teen library. If you're going to be here, be here to fight. Otherwise, leave."
Damien barely glanced at her as he continued down the steps.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Adrianna had barely noticed when a teacher walked in. Her mind was beyond the useless dabble of the school, at least it was today. Usually she could get involved with the usual school drama of who was with who and who was new. Today however her mind was on her family, and that was beyond anything the school held. Adrianna's mind was revolving around her father and what in the world she was going to do to protect him. Death was something that sprung up on the daughter of Aphrodite. Death was not something she took seriously, it was something that happened to the handsome actors on the tv show...not her family. Adrianna was smacked in the face when the death of her brother fell upon them and after that death became to her what it is to all demigod and gifted children: reality. True, mortals also worried about it, but for their kind it was hmm maybe some archery today..bowl of cheerios and possibly death.
Adrianna flipped another page when a voice spoke to her, and spoke quite harshly. It was a male voice, and she looked up to see a teacher. Adrianna wasn't certain over what he taught..she had never been in his class, but she was certain over the fact that he was a teacher...Mr. Hide? Mr.Hay? She couldn't be sure, but she thought it might start with an H. She had to admit that he was attractive..for a teacher. He had dark brooding eyes and she vaguely wondered why her mother had choose to bless someone so..offensive..with good looks.
Adrianna put her magazine down carefully and walked a few feet to the shed where the school kept swords. Adrianna did not have a sword of her own, she didn't need one. She looked him directly in the eye and smiled sweetly.
" No..I am not lost and if your so eager to fight then why not start with me....sir"
Adrianna put the sword tip down into the ground and put her hand on her hip waiting for his reply. She hoped he would agree. She enjoyed fighting with people who underestimated her. She was talented as a sword fighter, the best in her wing by far and although nothing compared to the kids of Ares..she held her own exceedingly well.

Damien raised an eyebrow then turned around to stare at the girl's cocky stance. Oh this was Damien's favorite part of this university. Many students figured he wasn't too much older than them or that he was some math teacher with no real talent for fighting. How he loved to put them in their place. He loved appearing as the silent teacher who always seemed to have a stick up their ass, but then cutting their ego down with his actions rather than his words.
Slowly, Damien removed his sword from it's sheath. He enjoyed the smoothness at which it came out. He loved the sound the sword made. It was practically music to his hears. Damien pointed his sword at the student full of confidence. For a split second, he thought about how he might get in trouble with the administration again for fighting with a student too seriously. A small smirk appeared on his face showing that he really did not care what admin thought. He was going to fight this girl and put her in her place.
Damien put he sword down then turned on quickly heading down the stairs. "Well. Follow me my dear and I'll teach you a thing or two." He didn't bother to turn around to see if she was following. He could tell from her tone of voice that she was defensive and would not challenge a teacher if she didn't plan on going through with it. Damien made it to the center of the arena. He swung his sword around warming up before fighting though he didn't expect the battle to last too long.

Adrianna had merely watched as he took his time taking out his sword. She did not have a sword of her own, her weapon was essentially herself. She may not be able to kill or inflict pain, but she could stop people in their tracks..make them sick with love and want her above anything else in the world. In many ways Adrianna viewed her gift as something that was just as deadly as any of the others. Love was a powerful weapon that, when used in such a way could provoke one to end their own life with just a smile. Adrianna would never use her gift that way, but it was nice to know it could be done.
When the teacher walked away and answered her challenge she son followed. Adrianna knew in the back of her mind that she would loose, but she also knew that she would hold her own much better than he would assume. Adrianna was drunk with anger at the moment, and those were the times when she fought her best. She followed the teacher before her at a pace ready to defend herself if he suddenly turned and charged.
The man made it to the center of the ring and flashily started to use practice shots. Adrianna rolled her eyes and walked into the ring, carefully taking in his every move waiting on him to strike.
" Im not getting any younger here...prettier maybe...but not younger..."
