Well, it was late. Really late. And what kept out little sophomore up at this late hour was her stomach. She knew she should have eaten more during dinner, but at the time she was not hungry, and other things had occupied her mind. Other things like the cute boys on the other side of the table she had been sitting at. Other things like, how she really should have practiced her power a bit more. It was slowly, ever so slowly improving, there were less gaps from the stories she had attempted to use her power on. After all, she managed to read all the books manually afterwards. So far, she was improving, but obviously it frustrated her because it was extremely slow going. As for her other power, well, she had all but mastered it. Let's just say she had been practicing it a lot these days, even when her instructor slash teacher told her that she needn't do so anymore. It was a bad habit of her's, anyways, and she was sure she couldn't live without it anymore. Really, thievery was now a pretty big part of her life now. It had taken her less than a year to get to the near perfection of it, but it was worth it. She started with extremely small things. Like a single small M&M from her friend's pack, or something of the sort. Progressively she began to take slightly bigger things. Now she was to iPods and MP3 players. That was the biggest she would ever go. No, probably not in her lifetime, but it was the biggest things she dared to take. It was really bad of her, she knew it, but sometimes she just browsed through the songs to see the music selections the owner liked, and perhaps returned it. Good thing they were lightweight and could fit on the palm of her hand.
But the real matter at hand was her growing hunger. What in the world was she going thinking of how she stole stuff when the real matter that she was going to steal some food, and she was going to steal some food now. She climbed out of her bed, being sure not to wake any of the others in her dorm (she was sleeping at the hermes dorm, she loved electronics, and internet especially, and since they had the fastest there, it was quite obvious about it, though she loved libraries and could not help but want to stay at the athena dorm for her pursuit of knowledge), but it was not a hard feat. She changed into warmer clothes, and set herself off to get some food. Her thievery was going to come in handy in this situation, anyways. But since this was night, and technically she was not supposed to be up, and could be in trouble if she did get caught. Too bad she couldn't conceal herself better than a normal person, but she attempted, did she not? At least it was points for trying.
On the way to the cafeteria, she grew increasingly hungrier. Her stomach was going to the be the end of her, you just wait. One day she was going to steal something to satisfy it and boom, death. Or, something like that. It was supposed to be comical, but as she thought it, it didn't seem to be the case. Oh well. No one heard that, so she needn't to worry about it. And step. And step. She wasn't exactly silent. And she was far from invisible. But hunger still drove her on, and she hated her stomach for that. "I wish all my nights weren't like this." Sure, Kaitlynn was familiar with the university, but not at night.
And then footsteps. Great, just what she needed.

The Hades dorm was awkward, especially for her. Peyton, one of the 'gifted' mortals, had been chosen by Hades. Oh, yeah, great fun. No, not really. Especially when most of them didn't really like her - not that she liked them. A lot of the demigods thought they were better because their parents were actually gods, while the rest of them were just mortals with a few flashy powers. Truthfully, Pey didn't want to be either, so she didn't even bother arguing. She just sort-of took it and stayed down. It seemed like the easiest thing to do. After all, she had never been much of a fighter unless certain buttons were pushed. That night, she had stayed up with a flashlight and was reading a book. She wasn't in her pajamas - pajamas were something she changed into right before bed - and she still had shoes on. Her converses were even laced up. She had on jeans, a tank top, and a sweater thrown over it - her classic outfit. No, she didn't care much about her looks. Her dark, straightened hair fell onto her shoulders, and as she stuck a bookmark into her book to mark the page and stood up, just about to change, she got a hungry feeling. She had skipped dinner to read, and she guessed that hadn't been the smartest idea because, now, she would have to sneak into the cafeteria. Yeah, Hades would be real proud of her now.
She couldn't believe that she, of all people, would be one of the ones to sneak out of the Hades dorms. She wasn't at all one of the ones to break rules - after all, in her mind, breaking rules was just a waste of time. She'd probably get caught, too, because she was a total failure when it came to sneaking around. She was so glad that the bottom of her shoes didn't make any noise, or else she would've been done for. With everyone else sleeping...well, that would make things easier. She slipped out of the dorm, and made her way to the cafeteria. She didn't know why she had actually decided to do it - it wasn't like she wasn't used to missing a meal once or twice a day. She had done that all the time when she was a kid - in between her mother's alcoholism and her nannies being fired one after the other, she had learned how to deal with hunger, and then, later, cook for herself. She bit down on her lower lip as she finally reached the cafeteria, and let out a relieved sigh. How had she actually managed to do that without getting caught? She raised an eyebrow at herself, kind of surprised and proud at the same time, and held back a snort to prevent making any noise.
She was sure that she would be the only one stupid enough to sneak down at night for food. No one else was really stupid enough to skip dinner - she was probably one of the ones with the least common sense. A chosen one of one of the Big Three, and she didn't have much common sense. What an oxymoron. She knew why Hades had chosen her, though, and it wasn't anything to do with her brain power. He had said she had looked like one of his daughters the only time she had seen him - yeah, that was the reason. She wasn't stupid enough to overlook that. Bianca, her name had been. Peyton shook her head - now really wasn't the time to think of such things. She didn't bother to step lightly, as she was already at the cafeteria, and spotted a brunette standing there. Apparently, she really wasn't one of the only ones that had decided to come down for a late night snack. She raised an eyebrow at the girl. "You come down for a late night snack, too?" She asked, and waited for the girl to response.

The only thing that held comfort to Kaitlynn right now was that the footsteps didn't sound like a teacher's. They were much too light. That was a relief. But then again, there could be teacher's with light feet... it wasn't like Kaitlynn paid any attention to how light a teacher's footstep was on any normal circumstance. But still, the chances that this person was a teacher was scarce, but there was always that one chance... the one chance she was going to get in trouble.. Hermes and Athena would not like that one bit. Hopefully, it wasn't a teacher. Hopefully it wasn't-- wait a second. Wow, she was infinitely stupid. She could have just turned around and checked who it was. If it was a teacher, well she was in a tight position to squeeze out of anyways, so it didn't matter if she turned around or not. She needed to stop pondering around in her thoughts and do something. It was not her strong point, focusing, because she often was lost in her head, thinking of the most irrelevant topics. She had no idea why, but it was just a small habit of hers. Actually, it was a bad habit of hers, always tuning out other things so that she could think, and often times when something important was being said. She needed to change her habits, but it wasn't like she was going to be doing any of that soon. There she went again, absorbed in her thoughts. Better see who was behind her anyways...
Turning around, she was surprised to see another girl, who could not be more than one or two years older than herself. Well, now she didn't have to worry about getting in trouble. Just hopefully it was not a goody two shoes. But it was doubtful, because if she was then why was she even here? Wait. This was the cafeteria. Why would she be here, to paint some pictures? Yes, of course, so she could paint a pretty picture with no light but from the dim moon. She meant that in the most sarcastic way possible. Though Kaitlynn could not be absolutely sure of what the girl's intentions of being here were, but her guess was a good as any. Perhaps she was here because of the same reason Kait herself was here, to eat.
And her question has been answered! Or rather her suspicions confirmed. Well, her question was answered by a question. But she promptly answered anyways. "Yeah, got a bit hungry. Didn't eat much dinner." Pause. "What's your reason for your hunger?" Well, Kaitlynn was naturally curious, though she was never usually this subtle. Oh well, the lateness was messing with her mind.

Rumble, rumble. Grumble, grumble.
Just around midnight, everything is quiet, and most of the students are sound asleep. There should be nothing interesting in the spacious corridors at this time, right? Well, not exactly. Quiet footsteps could be heard, a haunting sound to anyone who’s around. Soft breaths that could send shivers up to anybody’s spines, especially in the low – light environment. A single man was walking down the halls, slightly hunched, his movement slow, deliberate, and calm. His eyes gleamed with… mischief? Excitement? Hunger?
Was it a murderer?
‘Course not.
It was merely Kirk, taking a trip down to the cafeteria for a midnight snack. He had gotten hungry while he had been sleeping, and it was a wonder why. After all, he ate like a king, queen, prince, and all their ambassadors combined during dinner. No matter. His stomach had rumbled, and like a lowly servant, he hurried away to fulfil its request. More food. He was a regular at the cafeteria, even at night. His late visits to the place was frequent, as his ever – demanding belly never seemed to be satisfied, always complaining at the most inappropriate of times. And because of these frequent trips, he had gotten used to sneaking, if you call nonchalantly wandering down the stairs “sneaking”, around after the set bedtime.
Stretching his arms upward as he yawned, he continued walking, eventually managing to hear hushed voiced in further ahead. Teachers? Maybe. But he had been caught before, and all he got was a friendly slap on the wrist and a roll of bread, so that hadn’t been too bad. But he was lucky that time, as the instructor had also been heading down for some food. It really wouldn’t do him any good if a stricter professor would catch him this time. So maybe I’ll come back later then…
Nah. After taking a few more cautious steps, he heard two different voices, both from girls. He heard them talking about food, so Kirk thought happily that they were in the same boat. Hungry at night, and hoping to nick some food off the kitchens. “Hello!” He called, stepping forward to introduce himself. He had no qualms about revealing his name, especially since they were all students at the same, crazy Academy. “I’m Kirk, and I suppose you’re heading down the cafeteria as well?” He asked, his voice rather raspy from its lack of use, after all, he had just woken up, but he still managed to keep a friendly tone. His head was already beginning to fast forward to the future. Maybe these were regulars too? He had met quite a few people in his trips to the lunch area, but he rarely met anyone twice, and he figured having company at these times would at least make him feel less lonely as he shamelessly ate in the darkness.
